On 17th December 2021, Dortech will take part in a 2K Push-up challenge to raise money for Candlelighters. Our charity partnership began at the start of the year, and we’ve enjoyed fundraising for this wonderful organisation throughout 2021. About Candlelighters:
Candlelighters support children with cancer and their families in Yorkshire. Their work is very close to the hearts of many of our staff members, who’ve been touched by their services and support over the years. The charity was founded in 1976, and since that time, it’s helped thousands of children and their families. Each year, roughly 150 children in the local area are diagnosed with cancer. This diagnosis is incredibly tough on both the child and their family, but Candlelighters is here to support them throughout the journey. They aim to bring hope and support during this challenging time, which is provided in many different ways. Their team offers practical, emotional, and financial support while also investing in research about childhood cancer.
The Square is the family support centre run by Candlelighters, which is just one minute away from Leeds Children’s Hospital. Families can benefit from a wide range of support services here, including wellbeing sessions, peer support groups, and talking therapies. Most families just appreciate having somewhere away from the hospital to relax for a short while during this difficult time. As well as The Square, the team at Candlelighters also delivers support closer to home in Yorkshire. They fund an Outreach Play Specialist to support families in their homes, which is an incredible service for the children and families in the local community. As you can see, they offer so much to families in Yorkshire, but without everyone’s support, this simply wouldn’t be possible.
How You Can Get Involved with the Dortech 2K Push-up Challenge
Our latest event to raise funds for Candlelighters will take place on 17th December 2021 at 10:30 am. The team at Dortech will be aiming to complete as many press-ups as they can in just one hour, with our MD James Sutherland and Steve Rodgers striving to complete a whopping 2000 press-ups. While this is the headline act for the morning, we’ll also offer a cake sale with various food items to assist with our fundraising this year. We’ve taken part in various events throughout the year for Candlelighters, but this is our most ambitious one to date to finish off the year.
If you are wondering how you can get involved in the fun, there are a few ways you can help out. Here you can find out more about our fundraising efforts and help us to get one step closer to our target. Every little helps when it comes to donations, and you’ll find that the team at Candlelighters are incredibly grateful for any donations they do receive.
On the morning of the event, we’d love it if you could show your support for our team. The press-up challenge will take place shortly after 10:30 am and will be streamed across our social media channels. We’ll be live on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, so feel free to choose the one you prefer to use to tune in. We’d love it if you tuned in to one of these and left a supportive comment for our team. It’s not an easy challenge they’ve set themselves, but with your support, we know they’ll be able to achieve their goal.
